Your gun is the Field Grade (lowest grade) and there is evidence in the photos that at some time the stock cracked and has been pinned at the head.

Your Ithaca is a late 1904 vintage gun, and the "S" over the "16" indicates that it is a Field grade 16-ga gun. The numbers kcbuck referred to are the various "grades" and they would be right where the "S" is stamped.
