Furries have a reputation for being kind of clueless about the impact of their lifestyle on others, for demanding that their furries-ness be taken very seriously, and for using their fursuits in inappropriate ways. This can range from a sexual fetish to simple entitlement.
This means that many furries like this may be unused to certain social situations and under experienced when it comes to solving problems in friend groups. Furries are perceived as bad or gross or weird by a lot of the greater public. I think this puts a lot of furries on edge and they keep their guard up.
Because people are ignorant and believe what the media tells them too. Yeah, some furries are annoying AF and way over the top but majority of them are just regular people, living their lives as best they can who also happen to be into antro art and cosplay.
